Professor of American Studies at University of Texas at Dallas

Professor Smith teaches courses in 19th and 20th-century American literatures and cultures and in Gender Studies at UT-Dallas, where she worked since earning her PhD at Duke. Professor Smith published two books focused on gender and popular reading in the 20th-century U.S..: Hard-Boiled: Working-Class Readers and Pulp Magazines and What Would Jesus Read?: Popular Religious Books and Everyday Life in 20th-Century America.
