Aula Verde – Tree Room: Art and Science for Climate Justice

Saturday, October 25, -
Speaker(s): Andrea Conte
Join us for a participatory workshop and conversation with Andrea Conte - visual artist, environmental engineer, and founder of Studio Andreco - on the radical intersection of ecological art, forest science, and climate justice.

Saturday, October 25, 2025 · 10:00 AM-12:00 PM ET · Duke Campus Farm

Conte will present his internationally recognized project Aula Verde (Tree Room), an eco-social artwork developed with forest ecologists and environmental humanists to create participatory, tree-based installations in urban landscapes. Recently featured in Nature Scientific Reports, Aula Verde integrates Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), political ecology, and social practice to generate aesthetic, spiritual, and environmental value in the face of the climate crisis.

Drawing from collaborations across science, art, and activism, Aula Verde reimagines urban space through ecocentric design and collective action. The workshop will explore Aula Verde as both an artistic methodology and a political tool for reclaiming landscape, resisting extractivism, and fostering communities of care.

Light brunch will be served; childcare will be provided. Please RSVP if you plan to attend and to receive the suggested readings, writing to revaluingcarelab@duke.edu
