Class of 2006, Dr. Jarman earned her MD at the University of Kentucky and then completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah. She then completed an MPH and an additional fellowship in Sex and Gender at Brown University before joining the faculty at UC Davis.
How has being a Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies (formerly Women's Studies) graduate from Duke University help shape your professional success?
The roles of both Sex and Gender are actually central to my job now, both as a physician and a researcher. Perhaps more importantly, however, the undergraduate training I received at Duke taught me how to view the entire would with a critical lens, which has shaped every aspect of my professional (and personal!) life.
