An initiative designed to bring sustained attention to Transgender Studies. It includes events, pedagogical efforts, and post-doctoral fellowships for 2017-18. The event series asks how the innovations in the new field of transgender studies is changing teaching, research and medicine, funded by the Franklin Humanities Institute Humanities Futures grant with support from the Mellon Foundation.

Annual Research Initiative: Black Feminism
The Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies Program conducts an Annual Research Initiative that explores ideas and concepts from a variety of disciplines that touch on women, gender, and feminism. The theme is realized in a graduate seminar, post-doctoral fellowships, and events.
For 2016-2017, the theme was "Black Feminism."
