Image and visual culture in the production and engagement of gender, race, sexuality, and class. Examining the various ways images organize understandings and experiences of gender, sexuality, and their relations via the methodologies of feminist and queer theory. How contemporary feminist art challenges U.S. feminist scholarship working to theorize feminism from within transnational contexts. This course includes a curatorial component, and will be taught in collaboration with Duke University's Nasher Museum. One course.
